MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The attack on Mirza Olang village took place on August 4. After two days of fighting with the government forces, the militants took control over the village, leaving 60 civilians dead and eight others injured, as well as 471 families displaced.
"Evidence shows that this brutal crime has been committed by the Taliban in collusion with the ISIS [Daesh] group. According to eyewitnesses, the attack was led by Mullah Nader, local commander of the Taliban and Ghazanfar, local commander of the ISIS group. Taliban has already claimed responsibility for the attack," the reports showed.
The watchdog called on the Afghan government to investigate into the attack, as well as into "the negligence of security and defense organs" over the lack of preventive measures.
Afghanistan has long been suffering from significant political, social and security instability, aggravated by the activity of terrorist groups. The Afghan National Defense and Security Forces supported by the US-led coalition have been conducting joint operations to combat terrorism across the country.
