WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — The United States awarded more than $32 million for additional engineering services on the power systems of DDG 1000 Aegis-class guided missile destroyers, the Department of Defense said in a press release.
"DRS Systems [of] Melbourne, Florida is being awarded a $32,200,860… for engineering services and associated support ceiling for the DDG 1000 Integrated Power System Low Voltage Power System," the release stated on Monday.
The DDG 1000 power system includes several zones of power conversion modules, known as Integrated Flight Through Power (IFTP); distribution system load centers; and a diesel generator set, the Defense Department explained.,
Work on the program will take more than five years and is scheduled to be completed by September 2022, the release added.
