Assange Denies Russian Involvement in DNC Email Leaks, Promises More Details
On Wednesday, the Hill newspaper reported that Assange in course of his meeting with Rohrabacher said that Russia had not been involved in stealing emails from servers belonging to the Democratic National Committee (DNC) during the presidential election in 2016.

According to the newspaper, the meeting between Assange and Rohrabacher, who is also the chair of the US House committee on Eurasia policy, was held Tuesday in the Ecuadorian Embassy in London, where the WikiLeaks founder has been residing since 2012 for fear of being extradited to Sweden where he was accused of rape.

In July 2016, WikiLeaks website published the data from the DNC's email servers. A January report by the US Director of National Intelligence (DNI) alleged Russia-backed hackers stole emails from servers belonging to the Democratic National Committee (DNC). According to the DNI, stolen emails were then provided to the WikiLeaks organization, which released the email contents to the public over the course of the US election.

Russia has repeatedly denied the accusations of Moscow's interference in the US presidential election, saying that it had not served the interests of Russia and calling them absurd.
