WASHINGTON (Sputnik) – US-led coalition strikes in Iraq destroyed two Daesh terror group (banned in Russia) headquarters near the city of Tal Afar on Wednesday, Operation Inherent Resolve said in a press release.
"Near Tal Afar, one strike destroyed two Daesh headquarters; and damaged a bridge," the release stated on Thursday.
In Syria, the coalition carried out 23 strikes consisting of 23 engagements near Abu Kamal, Deir ez-Zor and Raqqa.
The strikes destroyed 12 oil stills, 17 fighting positions, a drone, vehicle, an improvised explosive device and a command and control node, according to the release.
The US-led coalition of more than 70 members is conducting airstrikes, ground-based and rocket-propelled artillery fire against the Daesh in Syria and Iraq. The strikes in Iraq are conducted in support of the Iraqi government, but those in Syria are not authorized by the government of President Bashar Assad or the UN Security Council.
