Russia plans to sign agreements worth over two trillion rubles ($34 billion) during the upcoming Eastern Economic Forum (EEF) in Vladivostok.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Moscow plans to conclude agreements worth over 2 trillion rubles ($34 billion) during the upcoming Eastern Economic Forum (EEF) in Vladivostok, Deputy Prime Minister Yury Trutnev said.

"We hope that the value of signed contracts will exceed two trillion rubles this year. These are specialists' estimates," Trutnev, who also holds the position of presidential plenipotentiary envoy to the Far Eastern Federal District, said in an interview with Rossiyskaya Gazeta newspaper.

The official added that during the first two editions of the EEF, agreements worth 1.3 trillion rubles and 1.8 trillion rubles respectively had been signed. A lot of projects, agreed during the forums, are already being developed or even put in commission such as the Amur gas processing plant (GPP) in the Amur Region, which is the largest gas processing facility in Russia, Trutnev pointed out.

The 2017 EEF is scheduled to take place on September 6-7. This annual event was established in 2015 as a platform for cooperation between business and political representatives from Russia and the Asia-Pacific region. In 2016, the EEF gathered 4,600 representatives from business, scientific and other communities from 56 countries.
