On Saturday, an explosion occurred in one of the crowded Mogadishu's streets after a twin truck bomb reportedly detonated in front of Safari Hotel. Soon after that local media reported citing police about the second blast in the same area. According to the most recent figures reported by media, over 270 people were killed and more than 300 people were injured.
As many as 276 people were killed and around 300 injured in a recent explosion in the Somalian capital of Mogadishu, the country’s Minister of Information Abdirahman Osman said on Monday.
No terrorist group has yet claimed responsibility for the blast, but the attack is thought to be conducted by al-Shabaab terrorist group. Al-Shabaab pledged allegiance to al-Qaeda (terrorist organization, outlawed in Russia) in 2012 and is one of the deadliest terror groups in Africa, regularly conducting attacks both against military and civilians in public spaces such as hotels and restaurants.
