A US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) source confirmed to Sputnik this week that the total number of migrants unlawfully crossing into the United States on the US-Mexico border already hit a new record for fiscal year 2023, reaching nearly 2.4 million. The figure marks the third consecutive year the Biden administration has seen a record number of migrants illegally crossing the US southern border - 1.7 million in 2021 and 2.3 million in 2022. US media reported last week that some 2.3 million migrants have come over the US-Mexico border in fiscal 2023, which ends in October.
