The source, in particular, noted that the American side positively assessed the progress of the negotiations and expected that an agreement on a ceasefire could be reached before December 15. Since October 1, Israel has been conducting a ground operation against Hezbollah forces in southern Lebanon and continues aerial bombardment of the neighboring country, where in addition to civilians, leaders of the Shiite movement have been killed and more than a million people have become refugees.
