Watch Russian Pontooners Conduct Drills in Special Op Zone

Pontooners of the Russian Armed Forces took part in a large-scale military exercise of pontoon crossing units in the special operation zone, demonstrating the capabilities of engineering troops to make crossings on wider water obstacles, a Sputnik correspondent reported.

Military engineers are invaluable in all sorts of combat operations, performing the most challenging tasks and providing support for other forces.

"The pontoon-transfer unit of our detachment has quite a lot of experience in overcoming water obstacles in various tactical directions, using standard and non-standard ways of performing tasks, both on wide and narrow water obstacles, using the material part of the pontoon fleet of towed motor boats, as well as transfer and landing vehicles," said the commander of the unit with the call sign "Beryl."

The officer stressed Russian engineer forces are on duty at any time and under any weather conditions.

"We are able to work both day and night, in any weather conditions, the military body is well-coordinated, practical skills at a high level, most of the detachment has been awarded state honors," the commander emphasized.
