Russian Energy Now Critical to China’s Strategic Ambitions - Rosneft CEO

Russian energy supplies are now a crucial factor helping China achieve its strategic goals. Since 2022, the economic benefit of Russian oil for China has reached about $20 billion, said Igor Sechin, executive secretary of the Presidential Commission on Energy Strategy and CEO of Rosneft, speaking at the Russia–China Energy Business Forum.

Over the past 10 years, Igor Sechin noted, Russia’s timely pivot to the East has made it China’s number one oil supplier, with a market share of around 20%.
