The deal was inked by Rossiya Segodnya's Director General Dmitry Kiselev and Xinhua's President Cai Mingzhao.
The first step will be boosting information cooperation between the two agencies, including mutual access to information products, and a dialogue on a mechanism that will allow their journalists to share experience. The parties will also discuss a host of joint information projects that could serve as a platform for further cooperation.
"China and Russia are allies in building a multipolar and multistructural world. […] society will be the first in line to benefit from a broader expert dialogue between the world's leading news agencies as it will get more access to professional, timely, quality news on events in both countries, and on their take on global events," Kiselev said, commenting on the agreement.
