Members of Europe's major left-wing political parties, including Spain's Podemos and Greece's Syriza, are set to take part in fresh anti-austerity rallies in the German city of Frankfurt, one of the organizers told Sputnik Wednesday.
"There is almost every member from any European left party: Podemos, Esquerda Unida, SYRIZA, Die Linke, some Greek MP from the UK. We have dozens of delegations," Stelios Foteinopoulos, from the Greek ruling Syriza party, said.
"There is the massive main demonstration at five o'clock [16:00 GMT] starting from the Central Plaza of Frankfurt. We expect a big amount of determined people. We are planning a peaceful demonstration and the clear message will be a political message to the European political elite that people have to united against this neo-liberal policy", SYRIZA party member said.
Blockupy is a left-wing political group protesting EU austerity policies, particularly those imposed recently on Greece.
Earlier, Frankfurt police told RIA Novosti more than 80 officers had been injured and some 350 protesters had been arrested during the morning clashes.
