According to a timetable in Moscow’s Sheremetyevo International Airport Russia’s Aeroflot and Italy's Alitalia airlines have cancelled half of their flights between Moscow and Italian cities scheduled for Friday over a strike by Italian air-traffic controllers.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Russia’s Aeroflot and Italy's Alitalia airlines have cancelled half of their flights between Moscow and Italian cities scheduled for Friday over a strike by Italian air-traffic controllers, according to a timetable in Moscow’s Sheremetyevo International Airport.

According to the timetable, several flights to/from Rome and Milan have already been cancelled.

"Passengers will be transported on [Russian airline’s] flights on March 21. A larger capacity aircraft Boeing-777 will be dispatched to carry out the carriage of passengers," the official representative of Russia's largest airline Aeroflot told RIA Novosti Thursday.

Employees from Ente Nazionale Assistenza al Volo (ENAV), the Italian company responsible for the management and control of civilian air traffic, will hold an eight-hour strike in Italy’s largest airports on March 20. The general strike will begin at 10:00 a.m. local time (09:00 GMT) and will last until 06:00 p.m. (17:00 GMT).
