"On the one hand, they tell the whole world every day that 'Russia is very seriously isolated' (due to those same White House announcements)."
"On the other hand, they are trying by all possible means to jump on the wing of the Russian fighter jet, flying into the Syrian distance."
Earlier this month, US President Barack Obama claimed that "Iran and Assad make up Mr. Putin’s coalition at the moment," and that "the rest of the world makes up ours."
However, despite such announcements, which seem to have the intention of isolating Russia, relations in Vienna seemed more constructive, said Zakharova.
"The American organizers seated Lavrov next to Kerry, who has already tried to whisper something to the 'Russian outcast,'" wrote Zakharova, noting the contrast of the meeting to much of the rhetoric emanating from the White House regarding Russia's policy on Syria.

Zakharova's Facebook post on Friday, noting that Kerry and Lavrov were seated together at the meeting.
"Nevertheless, it is necessary to jump on board – the doors to the information center in Baghdad are always open for everyone, including Washington," wrote Zakharova.
On October 1, Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi said he would welcome Russian airstrikes against the Islamic State, and that his government would consider an offer of greater military support.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said that Russia had not been asked to expand airstrikes into Iraq, and was not planning to do so.
"We are polite people and we don't come without an invitation," said Lavrov.
