MOSCOW (Sputnik) — A suicide bomber detonated explosives in front of the Russian embassy earlier in the day, reportedly killing at least seven and injuring 26 people. The embassy staff was not injured in the explosion.
The blast targeted a civilian bus carrying more than 30 staff from Kaboora Production, a sister entity to Afghanistan's TOLOnews, according to the media outlet. All seven dead in the attack were Kaboora Production staff members.
In October, Taliban issued a statement with threats against TOLO TV, claiming that the media company broadcast false news regarding the siege of the Afghan city of Kunduz, therefore all facilities and employees of TOLO TV would be considered military targets by the group.
Afghanistan is experiencing political, social and security instability, as the Taliban movement and other radical extremist organizations such as the Islamic State, prohibited in many countries, including the United States and Russia, continue staging attacks against civilian and state targets.
