Major advantages for international organizations and the range of conferences to held in Austria it that it the latter is not a member of its military blocs and its citizens are friendly.

VIENNA (Sputnik) – Austria's major advantages for international organizations and the range of conferences that it hosts are its non-participation in military blocs and the friendliness of its citizens, Russia’s envoy to international organizations in Vienna said Wednesday.

"Responsible, pragmatic foreign policy, non-participation in military blocs, healthy economy and a very good infrastructure for a variety of international forums," Vladimir Voronkov told RIA Novosti in an interview, answering a question about the country’s present-day advantages.

The country’s beauty plays its role as well, he noted.

"Moreover, the Austrians, for the most part, are calm, open for dialogue and friendly people. In general, Vienna, probably not for nothing is one of the capitals of world diplomacy, and the Austrians appreciate it very much, by investing a lot of money in the development of business related to diplomacy, and, at the same time, cashing in on it, because plenty of different international meetings are held here," the diplomat stressed.

Since declaring neutrality in 1955, Austria has been either a mediator in crucial talks or used its territory as a venue for landmark negotiations. Its capital has long been famous for hosting international forums and diplomatic missions.
