VIENNA (Sputnik) — The Austrian law enforcement agencies have tightened security at the international institutions and high-risk areas throughout the country following the Brussels terrorist attacks, Austrian Interior Minister Johanna Mikl-Leitner said Tuesday.
"As an urgent measure, we have immediately increased security at all the airports. Austrian police enhance presence in the public places and in transport. The protection of the international agencies will be increased as well," the minister said.
A series of blasts hit Brussels earlier in the day, including two explosions in the Brussels Zaventem airport that left 13 people killed and 35 injured. Fifteen people were reportedly killed and 55 injured in explosions in metro in central Brussels.
