On September 22, 2023, Ukraine shelled the Russian city of Sevastopol in Crimea with missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles. According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, the headquarters of the Black Sea Fleet, a historic building, suffered damage, and one serviceman was reported missing. Russian air defenses destroyed at least five missiles during the attack. Crimea's head Sergey Aksenov, in turn, said that air defenses had shot down the cruise missiles over the peninsula.
