Hostilities have rocked Gaza since October 7, when Hamas, a militant Palestinian group, launched a surprise attack, firing a barrage of missiles and infiltrating into Israeli territory. The Israeli government imposed a complete humanitarian blockade on the Strip and launched retaliatory strikes.
Casualties are mounting on both sides as the Israeli government contemplates a ground operation and hospitals in the Gaza Strip run out of fuel, according to the latest data.
Meanwhile, border tensions escalate, with the Israeli army launching an Interceptor against a "suspicious aerial target" from Lebanon. While the crisis escalated, the international community sought a resolution and called for a ceasefire. Concurrently, the third installment of humanitarian assistance reached Gaza from Egyptian territory via the Rafah border crossing.

West Spoiling Its Reputation in Arab World With Blatant Backing of Israel - Ex-Egyptian FM
Western countries are spoiling their reputation in the Arab world with their flagrant support for Israel amid its war against Hamas in the Gaza Strip, former Egyptian Foreign Minister Nabil Fahmy told Sputnik.
"Well, I think the West is doing its best to spoil its reputation in the Arab world by having a double standard that is flagrant and blatant... the West is doing a huge disservice for itself," Fahmy said.
The West should support a ceasefire that will stop hostilities on both sides, provide humanitarian access to Palestinians, and support a conflict resolution that would deal with the issues of hostages and most importantly Israel's occupation, Fahmy added.

Israel Not Prepared to Confront Iran But US Stands Ready - US Congressman
Israel is not prepared for a confrontation with Iran, but the United States stands ready to take on Tehran, US Congressman Darrell Issa said after receiving a briefing on Iran.
"Israel is not in a position to deal with Iran. They’re in a position to deal, maybe, with Hamas and Hezbollah," Issa told US media. "We’re in a position to deal with their [Iran’s] aggression in Yemen, their aggression throughout the region, but most importantly, the sanctions."
Earlier Tuesday, lawmakers received a briefing about Iran’s activities in the Middle East amid a number of attacks on US forces in the region. The increase in attacks coincides with the escalation of fighting between Israelis and Palestinians.
Issa said briefers informed the lawmakers that Hamas’ and Hezbollah’s funding and capabilities came from Iran. However, there is no "smoking gun" tying Iran to Hamas’ October 7 surprise attack on Israel, Issa added.

Israeli Army Delays Start of Ground Operation in Gaza Fearing 'Deadly Traps' - Official
The Israeli military is delaying the start of a full-scale ground operation in the Gaza Strip due to possible "deadly traps," Deputy Director General for Public Diplomacy at the Israeli Foreign Ministry, Emmanuel Nahshon, said on Tuesday.
"We know that had we entered the Gaza Strip on the first, or second or third day we would have fallen into deadly traps and that would have meant also probably very important losses in terms of Israeli soldiers," UK media quoted Nahshon as saying at a briefing in the Israeli city of Sderot.
Therefore, the Israeli military is taking its time as it "needs to prepare the soldiers to this unique situation," the diplomat added.

Russia UNSC Draft Resolution Urges Rescission of Evacuation Order for Gaza Civilians
Russia's alternative UN Security Council draft resolution is calling for an immediate rescission of Israel’s evacuation order for civilians in the Gaza Strip, the text of the draft resolution obtained by Sputnik stated on Tuesday.
Urges the immediate rescission of the order for civilians and UN staff to evacuate all areas in Gaza north of the Wadi Gaza and relocate in southern Gaza," the draft resolution said.
Earlier on Tuesday, Russian Ambassador to the United Nations Vassily Nebenzia announced during a UN Security Council meeting that Russia has prepared an alternative draft of the resolution.
The draft resolution also condemns the October 7 attack by Hamas on Israel and also condemns Israel’s indiscriminate attacks on the Gaza Strip.

"Unequivocally rejects and condemns the heinous attacks by Hamas that took place in Israel starting 7 October, 2023 and the taking of civilian hostages, and expresses its deepest sympathy and condolences to all Israeli civilians and all other civilians who have lost their lives," the draft resolution emphasized.

In addition, the draft resolution said it "unequivocally condemns indiscriminate attacks against civilians as well as against civilian objects in the Gaza Strip resulting in civilian casualties, in particular heinous strike against Al Ahli hospital 17 October and the orthodox Church of Saint Porphyrius 19 October."
Finally, the draft resolution condemns and rejects Israel’s actions to impose a complete blockade of the Gaza Strip, cutting off 2.3 million Palestinians from water, food, medicines, electricity and fuel.
