The tension on the Israeli-Lebanese border has escalated since the beginning of Israel's hostilities in the Gaza Strip in October 2023. The Israeli Defense Forces and Hezbollah guerrillas carry out attacks on each others’ positions in the areas along the border on an almost daily basis.
The latest round of escalation came after communication devices exploded in different parts of Lebanon on September 17 and 18. According to the country's Ministry of Health, the blasts killed 37 people and injured more than 3,000. The Hezbollah movement and Lebanese authorities blamed Israel for the incidents. Israeli authorities have neither confirmed nor denied their involvement.
